About Grassmaster Gus

Hi, I'm Angus McDonald, the founder of Grassmaster Gus.

The idea for Grassmaster Gus came to me early in 2025 as my wedding day was approaching. I started dreaming about the next phase of my life and envisioned the picture-perfect lawn I wanted for my future home.

Despite living in an apartment at the time, I dove headfirst into research — Reddit threads, online forums, Facebook groups, YouTube channels — thinking "how hard could this be?" Little did I know, I was entering a world with an enormous and passionate lawn community.

What surprised me most was discovering that achieving a great lawn is actually incredibly challenging. I found conflicting information, varying opinions, and no concrete source of truth tailored to specific lawn contexts. I watched as people waited days for answers in forums, only to receive advice from random internet strangers.

I realized there were millions of people searching for help with grass identification, weed categorization, herbicide guidance, and mowing strategies. That's when the idea for Grassmaster Gus was born.

I'm building the tool that I know I'll need in the future — and that countless lawn enthusiasts need right now.
